Different Kind of Meteor Shower “Possible” TONIGHT

meteor shower coming tonight

meteor shower coming tonight

*Please Note: While we all hope for a great show in the sky tonight, understand that LatestBuzz.info as well as the astronomical society are for the most part ..unsure.. (but a dazzling show is at least in the realm of good possibility) of what we will actually see this evening. How much, and how often all depends on the state of a comet 200 years ago and the clarity of the atmosphere tonight. Keep your fingers crossed and read on:

A different kind of meteor shower could be coming tonight could dazzle spectators.  The reason for this shower being different than ones in the past is partly due to the gravity of Jupiter. Jupiter’s  gravity will pull the space debris closer to earth’s orbit and hopefully within great view from our planet.  The second part as to why this meteor shower will be different is because of the …“possible”…. frequency of the viewable particles.  Anything from lack-luster to an amazing display of meteors (dust.. see below) is in the possible scope of things tonight.

Astronomers and scientists are saying there ..“could be”.. up to a couple hundred spottings an hour depending on the clarity of the atmosphere and how active the comet was 200 years ago. You see, the tail of a comet is what actually produces these spectacles called meteor showers.  Supposedly, what appears as meteors are actually dust particles. The reason we say “supposedly” is because it is quite hard to fathom something the size of a grain of sand making that much of an impression (though brief) 50-100 miles up in the sky … We here at latestbuzz.info have to go with the scientific consensus for right now but indeed it is hard to swallow. When earth comes in contact with these trails/tails of dust we some times have these night shows in the sky known as “meteor” showers.

The trail of debris/dust tonight has been labeled “Camelopardalids” and planet earth is coming into contact with that trail tonight and into early tomorrow morning  (May 23-24, 2014).  What we see this evening has everything to do with how clear the night sky is and how active the comet was some 200 years ago. The current state of the comet isn’t relevant to what you will actually be seeing (if all goes well) tonight . The comet itself has been named Comet 209P- LINEAR.  It was discovered in 2004.  This comet will have the best view from North America if anything occurs visually exciting tonight. Look toward the north sky, just above the North Star starting around 11:00 p.m. Around the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 a.m. should produce the most activity if in fact, anything exciting is going to be seen tonight.

If your into star gazing, or you want to get involved Latestbuzz.info researched a bit for you. If you’re interested in a universal telescope scope that is actually pretty powerful but won’t break the bank… Celestron makes this one (good brand). The reviews on the 127 EO are sound. In checking in at around $130.00-$140.00 at the moment considering the specs it carries (127mm Aperture, 1000mm Focal Length, Barlow Lens) it’s a solid deal if you were thinking about getting a telescope one day. We posted a link to one at Amazon below (Amazon is so reputable and reliable we recommend them). Here it is:  Possibly The Best Scope going for the money for beginning and intermediate star gazers.
