New Band, The Kongos .. Sound to Spread ..

New Sound The Kongos

Music News by .. Ian Billen ~

If you have been hankering something a bit more interesting in today’s top 40 rotation, a word of good news. There’s a forward sound that is likely to spread, and it’s getting much closer than simply hanging fire out there at the edge of the horizon. In fact, that spread has already unofficially set sail. The sound on topic is ‘South African, Alternative Rock’ ; A  loose, roast-fully organic and less calculated version of American styled, grunge-burnt Rock & Roll. The act who seems to be carrying a commanding torch above all peers in this genre are known as: The Kongos (with their currently breaking-through album, titled Lunatic).

This ensemble actually consists of four bearded brothers, who spent their recent working time out of  Phoenix, Arizona. Getting things started (while growing up) took place in South Africa and partly in England but right now the boys are on route traveling as an “alternative” infiltration, right into the inner core of American mainstream, differentiating themselves from the atypical, nugatory splash associated with modern billboard pop. In recently signing with Epic Records, they’re on target to make waves ..sound waves, that is. Sound waves that will travel through the air from Internet, Satellite, and FM stations to your precious, delighted little ears. The band’s sea-sawed tone is a welcoming raunchy mix of slide guitar, raspy vocals, tribally influenced hard rock drumming, and dusty-buzzy accordion accents.

Thanks .. That’s all I can lend at the moment –
